Tablets and Potions versus Real Food?

For most of my life I have been like most of you, believing that I could lose weight easily and magically by taking lotions and potions.    Two years ago when I had a parathyroid tumour removed and decided I wanted to dedicate myself to becoming healthy and hopefully as a side effect lose weight.   I did a huge amount of research and studying to find out what diet would be best for fibromyalgia as I knew from past experience with my many clients who had fibromyalgia that weight loss can be terribly slow, so I wanted to be prepared mentally for the tough times and know how to overcome them.

What I kept reading over and over again was that the last thing my body needed was anything “artificial or chemical” and what it was screaming out for was real, nutritious food.   For a while, I fought it!   I didn’t want to believe that what I had heard all of my life “you are what you eat” was true.    I couldn’t bear the thought of a life without chocolate and treats!!!   But as I kept reading and discovered that actually, I could eat loads of other tasty delicious foods in whatever quantity I wanted, I started to realise that I wouldn’t die, I could still eat out and have red wine and dark chocolate, and I decided it was worth trying.

Within a year, I was off 4 different medications, my pain had decreased to the point where I take painkillers perhaps once a week instead of 4 times a day, I’ve lost almost 3.5 stone (21 kgs), I sleep like a normal human being, my head is clearer, I have less fibro fog and I am at the gym 3-4 times a week.    2 years ago I had not exercised for over 20 years and didn’t think I would ever be able to do so again!   Real food has given me my life back.

Our bodies were not designed for potions and chemicals.    The only people who will try and convince you that they are, are the companies that are making money out of our misery.     The human race is at its unhealthiest ever in our history and it all started in the 70’s.    Why?   What happened?    We demonised fat, we idolised sugar, we got lazy and started eating ready made meals which have vital fibre removed, salt added and then sugar put in to disguise the salt!   And we started taking tablets as if it was the normal thing to do.    Somewhere along the line, we fell out of love with real food which is very sad when you see the amazing power it has to restore health ….. and it does it very quickly!
