Are you terrified to eat fat? Do you avoid it at all costs and constantly look for the low fat foods when you shop? Do you cut the fat off your meat? You could be doing yourself a great disservice and keeping yourself overweight. Hang on ….. don’t run away! Just be open minded enough to read what I have to say and then be curious enough to research it a little more.
First of all, think about this. Why do you think it is that every chef uses loads of butter or olive oil when cooking? Because fat makes food taste fantastic! My husband makes the best scrambled eggs you’ve ever tasted. When I watched him to find out what was so different to how I made them, it was simply the loads of butter he added!
Second. The other thing that fat does is make you feel full. It’s satiating. When you increase the amount of fat you eat, you feel full and therefore eat less.
There is another magical quality about fat. It is the ONLY food that does not raise your blood sugar, therefore your body does not release insulin which is the fat storage hormone. It insulin is not released, you cannot store fat. End of!
There are a couple of things you do need to be aware of.
There are good fats and bad fat and I am not recommending that you eat bad fats. The only good fats are butter, ghee, lard, olive oil and avocado oil and oil from oily fish. For me, everything else is a no no.
Fat will absolutely cause you to put on weight ….. fast ….. if you combine it with sugar. The secret is to cut out the sugar and increase the fat.
I’ve had a client say to me a few times over the past weeks that she feels really naughty and uncomfortable when I tell her she must eat more fat like cream, cheese, avocado’s and butter. She is finding it very hard to trust me because we have all been fed the lies that fat causes fat, fat causes high cholesterol and fat is bad for us. Why is it that the world has become fatter since that science came out in the seventies? The science sadly was wrong and the gurus who know this are fighting tooth and nail to get governments to change their nutritional guidelines.
The proof is in the pudding. I currently know 3 people who have significantly lowered their blood sugar, one who came off daily insulin injections within 3 weeks by following a higher good fat diet. Hunger simply goes away as do cravings. I have lost over 25 kgs and greatly improved my health this way.
